In 1978 my first husband and I bought a new home in Worthing, South Dakota. It was a new subdivision of 9 homes. A ranch style home with 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and an unfinished basement. It was going to be our forever home, with our son who was three years old.
When I was pregnant with our daughter and I was cooking in the kitchen every now and then I would get tug on my dress or pants. I would tell my son to give me second so I could make dinner.

Mom visited me the day after we got home her funeral. I was whining to my husband about her hoarded house and not being able to sit at the dining room to have coffee. I got up and walked into the kitchen and heard a loud crash. Turned around and went back into the dining room and the expression on my husbands face was something I had never seen before. He said, "I didn't do it" He did see it though. Mom took my coffee cup and flew it across the room to hit the wall. I said, "That was mom, she got pissed off that I was bitching about her."
A few hours later I was peeling a banana and speaking out loud bitching about if mom had taken better care of herself and ate things like bananas instead of popcorn all the time she might still be alive. As I was walking to the garbage can and opened it with my foot to throw away the peel mom slapped the back of my hand and the banana fell into the garbage can. Not the peel. I laughed out loud and said, "Ok mom I will stop bitching about you, go see your other daughters for awhile."

February 14th Valentines Day at 3 am as I slept I got a tap on my shoulder. My husband was asleep next to me. We are the only ones that live in the house. I heard my mom whisper in my ear, "I'm with my mom celebrating her 100th birthday" I laid there, still, waiting for her to say more. She didn't I got up and cried for over an hour trying not to moan outloud to wake up my husband.
